Hosanna Primary School Support Group is 10!

In January 2003, the Hosanna Primary School Support Group was formed primarily to provide free daily porridge for the pupils at Hosanna Primary School in Kisenyi, a deprived part of Kampala, Uganda. Over the last 10 years links between the Hosanna Primary School Support Group (which became a charitable trust in 2007) have grown, with benefits to both communities.

Local people, including members of Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church, staff and pupils at Brimsham Green School, and other local organisations have raised over £130,000 in this time to support the work of the school, which not only provides good quality education and Christian teaching, but a safe and caring environment for the vulnerable children living in the slums. This money has helped improve conditions at Hosanna school by providing water on the school site, desks, improved toilets new brick built classrooms, allowances for the teachers, school fees for over 150 children from the poorest families, play equipment, and daily porridge for the 800 pupils on the register in 2012.

Visitors from the UK, who always pay their own expenses are able to see first hand how the funds are being used, and experience briefly what life is like for those living in Kisenyi. A visit to the school is a life changing experience and all who go are touched by the warmth and enthusiasm of both pupils and staff.
